Tulio, your tune is REALLY good, so nice and clean instruments :)

And by 77 to go, I didn't count the percussions. My yamaha YMF719 has 72 percussions and 8 drum kits, probably over hundred different instruments there... I like XG.
My tracker which I'm working on, uses 21 drum samples... and is based on MIDI... you all see it once I get it user friendly.

Hi guys!

Damn, this is a sweet program! I've been waiting for ages for something like this!

Here's my first experiment. If there are any Ys fans here, I'm sure you'll recognize this song (and if you don't, then I guess I screwed up):

Another piece of Ys music. Took a number of liberties with this one. Hopefully, someone out there will enjoy it. =)

... Perhaps we should start a seperate thread, dedicated entirely to music? ^^;;;;
Anyway, like Tulio, I dream wild, wet dreams about PSG and DAC support. It can be such a great complement to the fm synth, and at times I think it can really do wonders for a song.

jobro, you don't need to repeat arpeggio effect (0xy) on each note field, it will be enough if you use this effect only on new notes (arpeggio works until new note or effect 0ff).

Again, thanks to all people who uses TFM MM and post songs here.

Thanks for the hint, didn't have a clue on that one. I'm so used with FastTracker2 / MilkyTracker where you have to do that. I'll concider that way of working. Thanks for the heads up, and if you want to include these songs in TFM then feel free to do so.

Most of us will probably be familiar with this one:

I based the arrangement on an old midi file. Unfortunately, I don't know who made it.

Yes, I'm initially made arpeggio effect exactly like in FT2, but later decide to improve that, because original conception of arpeggio does not allow to use slide/portamento while arpeggio, and my method allow to do so.

Thanks.

Thanks. Here is another tune I composed early in 2004 for Tavern RPG, it turned out that we got some other better battle themes way more complex and "polyphonic" but still this has in my opinion the battle spirit for a RPG. :)

http://chemicalplant.monkeeh.com/music/Battle.vgm

Once again it would sound way better on MegaDrive if we had panning, PSG and DAC. I would use DAC for drums, PSG for strings and melody synth support, white noise for Hi hats, that would free 3 FM channels allowing me to provide more complex chords and the song would sound a bit more "full". :D

Anyway, the palayer is great. I am so glad to have this opportunity to hear how my tunes would sound in FM, and who knows... they will end up in the Cartidge version of Tavern RPG? 8)

Seeya ;)

Awesome work, Tulio! In my opinion, this version is actually better than the original! Very nice work with the falling "brass" section, especially. It's true that it would be much better with all that other stuff, but to be honest, I can't say I missed any of it when I first listened to it.

Anyway, here are my latest. Original pieces this time around:

I hope someone likes them! :)

Yeah allright. Not to mention that you composed the battle themes that retired my humble one, LOL. :P

Those who might be wondering, Zable Fahr is a former Tavern RPG member who composed no less than 30 songs for our game. He is a genius composer and artist. No doubit he will come with amazing tunes to run on TFM MM. :D

Again you come with nice work on the new tunes. The more you learn about it the more amazing songs you'll bring to us. Keep it going. ;)

Some good music there, keep up the good work.
The instrument pack mentioned earlier is great, perfect for people looking for a certain sound. it also includes the awesome grandpiano that Yuzo Koshiro used in many of his games.

How about some instruments?

http://www.speedyshare.com/507687544.html

All made by me.

What would make this tool very useful is if you could let the users dynamicaly add new chips depending on their track. So if you ned another 3 channels then you could add it pretty easily.

About instruments, Wikipedia claims that the OPM/OPN chips (of which the YM2612 is one) use the same method of synthesis as Yamaha's DX pianos, and further claims that the patches are compatible between the YM2612 and the DX-100 piano - perhaps we could rip and convert any available DX-100 patches for use on the Genesis?

Yamaha's synths even uses FM chips from same series, for example, DX-100 uses YM2151. They not 100% compatible, but conversion is possible.

Maybe I'm wrong, but seems like instruments set which comes with MVSTracker was converted from instrument library of some synth - I saw sysex files with same names of instruments somethere.

Support of sysex files in my TODO, but there is problem which lack of documentation for sysex formats of different synths (need to be reverse-engineered).
