I had a GP2X. Actually it's really well made, seriously! The first model had some problems but that was ages ago. It's a lovely peace of kit and quite powerful, if anyone gets the chance to try one, I'd recommend it, you won't be disappointed. That's funny, I thought the GP32 was powerful enough to ...

You guys are such super hardcore coders! It's great!

Where would you recommend a mega programming newbie should start? Like really really right at the beginning.

Don't worry, I won't ask any more questions about it after this one. I know this subject can be annoying.

These kinds of consoles are usually shite. Probably the best handheld for Megadrive is the GP2X. There's also a handheld called OneStation, which aparently has MD games on it. It would be good if it was hacked to play roms though, because it's extremely cheap. Though the hardware is actually in the ...

Shiru thank you again for the video, even though it's short, it's been extremely helpful. There's a lot of information in that video for a beginner. FrozenDelight, when you test instrument, you can change octave by Numpad number keys or mouse wheel (and also with slider left from on-screen keyboard)...

Thank for the help Mask of Destiny. Though I'm still a little confused. Yes there is a place to put in colours with numbers, here's a small video showing the colour pallete; http://www.box.net/shared/t4k3m7p94f Just click on the graphicsg01.rar title, or the + button, and then click on download. It'...

The K-Lite codec installer told me I should uninstall DivX before installing K-Lite. I really like and need DivX, so I don't think I'll install K-Lite for now. I'll find a way around it though, for example, I'll try the video on my mac. ADDED: YAY! It work fine on mac! Sold out tickets to TFM Music ...

I will try the K-Lite Codec Pack. I used to use it, I don't think I have it installed anymore, because I didn't think it was needed anymore. Do I run any risk by installing it over my current codecs? Sorry, I also have another problem (tell me to go away if I'm irritating you); When I use TFM MM, it...

The video tutorial is great thanks, but the audio is totally out of sink, so it's a little confusing. I'm looking up the Microsoft Video 1 codec, but I'm not sure if it'll help, because I think the Microsoft Video 1 codec is already used in Windows Meda Player. What I'm trying to say is that I think...

Wow thank you for the video, video tutorials are my favorite type of tutorial. There can never be too many video tutorials, it's always the best way to learn something.

42MB compressed down to only 6.4MB, that's good compression!

SH&E and Shiru, you are being very helpful! Thanks.

I shall experiment some more and try to get my head around all of this, it doesn't help that I have no experience with music composing whats so ever

ADDED: What do the EditSong and Poly mode buttons do?

Thanks Shiru, I think I'm starting to understand now.

The SMD palette you gave me is useful, I think I will be able to just take those colours and use them on sprites and hopfully then they'll look more like Megadrive graphics.

Thank you for the help in this thread and in the other one Shiru. Thanks for the links, but I have already read both of them, and found them not to be useful. Wikipedia only gives me the history, and the Trackers Handbook doesn't help me at all. Even the beginners page doesn't make any sense to me. ...

Help with FM Music Maker

Hello! Sorry I wondering if someone could give me a quick hand. I'm loving this TFM Music Maker stuff, but I don't have a clue how it works. I don't understand how these Tracker things are used. Everyone seems to be talking about random numbers and digits here, like it's some kind of coding, I'm con...

Oh right, thank you.

512 colors to choose from? So how do I know which colours those are?

When you start a new picture in GraphicsGale, it askes you to choose from 1bit, 4bit, 8bit etc. There's no 9bit.

Sorry for being a pain.

Megadrive colours for a newbie

Hello, I'm really sorry to just come out of the blue here and ask a question, but it is related; I want to make graphics (sprites, backgrounds ect) that look like they are from a Megadrive game. But I'm used to having no limitations on what colours I can use. I don't quite understand how the Megadri...
